Committees are the lifeblood of AAF. Not one event, party, or program could be executed without the ongoing efforts of our committees. We have over a dozen year-round and annual event committees run by members who generously donate their time and expertise. Below are the various committees you can get involved with:
Local American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) Chair: Pam Branham
The ADDY® Award Committee develops and organizes Memphis’s most prestigious event for the advertising industry. From branding, event planning and sales pitches to everything in between (and simply just having fun), being a member of this committee allows you to meet and work with the many different personalities in your industry.
Creating Future Leaders (Students): Jeff Rower
If you're bummed that you finally had to graduate college and go to work, this committee is for you. We focus on maintaining student Ad Fed memberships at U of M and other local colleges, organizing scholarship efforts, helping with internship programs, developing and running workshops and other college-related efforts.
Communications Chair: Blaine Loyd
The Communications Committee assures that, as experts in advertising and marketing communications, we are practicing what we preach. To establish a position as the leading marketing communications professional organization, we need to employ the best practices in everything from brand identity management to direct marketing and measurement.
Diversity Chair: Kimmie Vaulx
Nationally, the advertising community lacks diversity. On a local level, minority participation in advertising is even more limited. The Diversity Committee seeks to generate interest in our profession through grassroots efforts targeting under-served high schools in Memphis. To share your ideas and get involved, please contact Kimmie Vaulx.
Governmental Relations Chair: Iddo Patt
This committee monitors legal issues surrounding the advertising industry and keeps the board and the membership informed as issues arise. We may even need to go to the "Big House" or the big senate. All parties welcome.
Membership Chair: Dan Barron
This committee is perfect for meeting, mixing and mingling with all of the members of AAF! We need folks to help with the phone committee, the sign-in table at membership meetings, the Membership Drive and member surveys. We'd even like to create a sub-committee for the purpose of creating a Membership Directory. If you joined AAF to network, here is your chance!
Programs & Workshops Programs Chair: Pam Routh
These committees are always on the lookout for speakers for AAF membership meetings and workshops. Volunteers needed to find speakers and offer creative help for flyers, announcements, newsletter articles, event photography and more. The Workshops Committee needs designers and sales-oriented members to assist with conducting forums and workshops. Ideas welcome for small workshops that focus on arts/graphic arts or special interest advertising-related topics. Workshops promote professional development for members, while forums bring together Memphis’s brightest to discuss topics affecting the local, state and national advertising communities.
Public Service Chair: Art Gilliam
This committee is all about giving back to your community. We look for a local non-profit organization and help them develop a multi-media advertising campaign. If you are a researcher, PR purveyor, writer, graphic designer, video/radio producer or can solicit vendor donations, please contact Art Gilliam You'll feel better about yourself!
